THE POWER OF VISION AND LEADERSHIP

Yes, Operational Effectiveness is crucial: In today´s world, no organization can afford to miss out on sales opportunities, if the bestsellers are not available in the stores. Or to frustrate customers with poor levels of service. Or to lose precious margins due to an inefficient cost structure. But the truth is that - despite the fact that you have to work for it the hard way, operational effectiveness has become a commodity: If you don´t have it, you´re effectively dead, if you have it - it is just worth your entry ticket to the race for the future.

From a future perspective, the real asset is vision - the big picture of leadership. An organization that has no vision will have no future, and no direction. "Every wind is right if you don´t have any direction." You will go nowhere. In my daily practice I see many organizations that are thriving for operational effectiveness. They are so focused on streamlining the presence that they don´t even allow their minds anymore to think beyond today´s reality. So be aware that your operational strengths can easily become your visionary weakness. I invite you to take the time OUT. Toghether with peers and non-conformists in order to regularly challenge your thinking. Take the time to develop your organization´s vision. Your own, personal vision. It is the energy that fuels you and your team to achieve extraordinary results. To realize the unbelievable. Just take a look at the (r)evolution of Dubai. In the beginning there was nothing. Today there are endless opportunities. In the beginning there was arrogance of others that were looking down at third-tier destinations. Today they are looking up to global hubs. The beauty of life is that people have the power to transform, the power to learn and grow. The power of WOW, as Tom Peters referred to it. Sometimes it just needs to be awakened. For me, that is one of the most fascinating magics of life.
